role serves as part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for
providing direct clinical services to pediatric patients and their
families with most emphasis on completing Psychosocial Assessments;
providing individual, group and family interventions for patients;
facilitating psycho-educational training, family meetings,
discharge planning; assisting in program development; developing,
implementing, and reviewing Treatment Plans; and providing linkage
to outside resources. Essential Responsibilities: Conduct
evidence-based diagnostic and psychosocial assessments of children
and teens. Is knowledgeable of current clinical conditions,
methods, medications, theoretical frameworks, and interventions for
the pediatric population. Deliver evidence-based therapeutic
interventions (individual, family-based and group), following an
assessment-informed treatment plan that incorporates
pediatric-specific standardized measures of progress toward defined
treatment goals. Provide individual and family support and engage
them in treatment plan and decision-making process with respect to
patient rights, principles of confidentiality, respect for patient
privacy and right to self-determination. Utilize best practices in
delivery of behavioral health services in accordance with
professional, clinical and KP guidelines. Treat a variety of severe
and chronic pediatric conditions, including but not limited to
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Tic
Disorder, School Avoidance, Social Phobia, Generalized Anxiety
Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder,
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Psychosis, and
Neurodivergent Youth. Facilitate at least one group each week
(topic determined based on operational need). Assess and create
safety plans with patients/families, in collaboration with Crisis
team when indicated, regarding suicidal and homicidal ideation.
Collaborate with clinical staff and patient/family to develop and
execute systems-based, family-centered care plans and goals. Assist
patient, family, social relationships, medical staff, and teammates
with care coordination, problem solving and goal setting. Determine
when to refer for specialty behavioral health services (e.g.,
Gender Health, Eating Disorders, Developmental Pediatrics & Autism,
Psychiatry) and/or higher-level services. Effectively partner with
other members of a patients mental health and medical treatment
team, as well as with other agencies (e.g., school, Child
Protective Services) to optimize overall care. Provides patient and
family education effectively and sensitively to encourage
compliance with medical and therapeutic treatment recommendations.
Promote empowerment of patient in self-management of disease.
Determines and manages appropriate levels of care and service for
patients using clinical knowledge, established guidelines and
psychiatric consultation. Provide consultation for complex
situations to providers, staff, and contract agencies in caring for
patients. Continuously assesses, evaluates, and records patient
response to interventions. Practices within scope of practice
parameters as inferred by licensure, knowledge, skill level, sound
clinical judgment, and KP guidelines. Provides an integrated
approach to assessment and intervention for patients having
difficulty managing their health due to physical health
conditions/chronic disease, psychological, behavioral, cognitive,
and/or social factors. Maintains high level of clinical expertise.
Accurately documents patient data, actions or interventions,
responses, and plans for care/follow-up according to KP guidelines
and standards for practice. Collaborates to build strong, effective
relationships with referrers and their staff to assist in
development and communication of plans for co-management of
patients and their transition across care settings. Lead or
participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. Provide
consultation and training to other members of the care team in the
area pediatric mental health assessment and treatment as indicated.
Collaborates with crisis team as appropriate. In addition to
defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently
demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the
Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as
specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable
for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities,
and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally
sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers,
contracted providers, and vendors. Other duties as assigned. Basic
Qualifications: Experience Minimum two (2) years post-doctoral
practice experience which includes related graduate-level training
or professional experience working with a pediatric population
(e.g., ages 0-17 years). Education Doctorate degree in Psychology
or related behavioral health field. License, Certification,
Registration Psychologist License (Colorado) required at hire
National Provider Identifier required at hire Additional
Requirements: Taxonomy Code required at hire. Ability to function
effectively in an inter-disciplinary team. Training in
organizational behavior, human relations, behavioral interviewing,
conflict resolution, mental health issues, managing stress and
crisis situations. Knowledge of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine
patient populations in inpatient and outpatient settings. Knowledge
of the complex systems of psychiatric care and substance abuse
treatment at the community and county levels. Outstanding
communication and organizational skills. Consistently demonstrates
the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to
provide superior and culturally sensitive service to colleagues,
members, customers, contracted providers, and vendors. Working
knowledge collaborating with team members and family members,
accessing internal and external resources. Working knowledge of
data collection tools, databases, and word processing programs.
Demonstrated customer service skills, customer focus abilities and
the ability to understand Kaiser Permanente customer needs. Bi-or
