Veterinary Ophthalmologist
Salary: $170,000 - $190,000 base (plus production compensation with
no negative accrual)
Title: Board-Certified Doctor of Veterinary Ophthalmology.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary
Ophthalmologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be
responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular diseases
and disorders in a variety of animal species. This role involves
performing advanced ophthalmic procedures, including surgeries, and
collaborating with other veterinary specialists to ensure
comprehensive patient care. The Veterinary Ophthalmologist will
also educate pet owners on eye health and disease prevention while
maintaining accurate medical records.

Unlike most corporately owned hospitals, you will work closely with
the hospital owner and management who are committed to your
personal and professional success. EVS is a 26,000 sq foot
state-of-the-art facility featuring quality equipment such as
operating microscope, phaco unit, indirect ophthalmoscope, slit
lamp biomicroscope and cryopen. Our medical staff also has access
to a CT Scanner (Toshiba Aquilion 64 slice), C arm with fluoroscopy
capability (GE OEC 9800+), GE (Logiq E, Vivid IQ, Hand-held VScan)
and Phillips ultrasound units as well as scopes including rigid
rhinoscopy, gastroscopy, interventional fluoroscopy, and
bronchoscopy.
We are located less than 10 mi outside of Denver with quick access
to the foothills and mountains of CO. You will find the perfect

Required Licenses, Registrations, & Insurance by Colorado Law:
Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) License.
Board certification from DACVO.
Registration with DORA.
AVMA PLIT Insurance.
DEA License.
Specialist Duties & Responsibilities:
Advanced training and education as described by the DACVO
guidelines.
Diagnose and treat ocular conditions in animals, including
cataracts, glaucoma, and corneal diseases.
Perform specialized ophthalmic surgeries and laser treatments.
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, such as slit-lamp biomicroscopy,
tonometry, and ocular ultrasound.
Work closely with veterinary teams to develop and implement
treatment plans.
Educate clients on eye care, treatment options, and post-operative
care.
Stay current with advancements in veterinary ophthalmology through
continued education.
Maintain detailed and accurate patient records.
Regularly attend and participate in hospital rounds.
Collaborate with other specialists and emergency doctors to deliver
comprehensive care to all patients.
Establish a strong Ophthalmology caseload and manage caseload
appropriately.
Keep careful medical records for all patients, treatments
administered, exams, and procedures.
Ensure all treatment records are completed within 24 hours of the
end of each shift.
Work with referring doctors to collaborate on care plans and
follow-up with them regarding treatments administered.
Attend mandatory meetings that include, but are not limited to:
All Staff Meetings
Specialty DVM Meetings
Department Meetings
Promptly answer and return calls from referring doctors, clinics,
and clients.
Consistency in leading, managing, and coaching department
technicians and technician assistants.
Participate in department Team Building activities when
available.
Working knowledge of the following platforms: EzyVet, Instinct,
IDEXX, Cubex.
Attend and teach hospital CE opportunities for community and
staff.
Includes Lunch and Learns and attending marketing events to help
bring new clientele to EVS and the Ophthalmology department.
Create and provide accurate treatment plans (estimates) to clients
and adjust as needed for current patient needs maintaining within
the client's financial limitations.
Ensure that the treatment of animals is done ethically, balancing
medical needs with the welfare of the animal.
Other duties as assigned; this list is not exhaustive, & employer

all species of patients.

Ability to explain treatment and charges/invoices to clients when
necessary.
General understanding of AAHA standards and regulations.

Schedule Expectations:
Specialty doctors are expected to work 4 x 10-hour shifts alongside
their department medical team. Hours and days dependent on case
load and overall needs of the hospital. Further schedule details
will be discussed and outlined in the contract for employment
agreement.
